The irony of working with depression and anxiety.

Have you ever heard yourself saying “I don’t know why I feel so….” And then proceeded to get stuck in ruminating about why you feel so bad? Did it help? My hunch says- probably not.

While sometimes it’s helpful to contemplate what might have brought on a certain feeling, often it’s just not helpful- and can actual exacerbate the initial feeling.

Our emotions don’t always have a clear catalyst. In times when they don’t, it may be more useful to spend your time naming, feeling, and accepting the feeling rather than in the heady space of WHY.

What do you think?
