How We Heal.

Healing is multifaceted and complicated.

A big part of healing old injuries is going back in time and allowing ourselves to re-experience the old pains through the lens of our present self. This allows us to observe it, offer ourselves compassion and wisdom about what happened, and remind ourselves that we don’t have to be chained to our past in a way where it continues to be a source of our suffering or interfering with the life we want to live.

It’s never about forgetting- but shifting to a new and empowered and wiser and softer relationship with it. We get to honor our younger selves by remembering and healing- and our current selves by creating a compassionate and wise narrative around it that can release us of its clutches.

There’s strong duality here- remembering AND creating a different emotional experience around it when we do.

In my book, Gutsy: Mindfulness Practices for Everyday Bravery, I talk a lot about healing from old and debilitating narratives. Coming out May 3rd- and available for preorder now! See the link in my bio.

Sending you so much love!
