Apologizing for Feelings

Repeat after me: I do not have to apologize for my feelings.

So many of us feel like we’re supposed to be happy all the time- especially if we’re around other people. Here’s your end of the week reminder that you’re not supposed to be happy all the time- when you’re by yourself or with others.

I know I’ve often noticed myself apologizing for when I’m having a lower energy day or talking about something that feels heavier. We don’t need to do that. It’s the beauty and power of social support- being able to be authentic and supported in whatever state we find ourselves in.

We can flip that language of apology into one of gratitude. An acknowledgment of the sacredness that is created when we step into presence with another human being. It’s really a powerful thing.

Wishing you a restful weekend!
